The State Secretary meets the UNFPA’s Representatives in Kyrgyzstan
On June 9th the State Secretary Nur uluu Dosbol has met the UNFPA’s representatives in Kyrgyzstan at Government Office.
Issues of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNFPA in the Kyrgyz Republic in the areas of demography, population, young people as well as forthcoming population census in the Kyrgyz Republic have been discussed within this meeting.
As mentioned by the UNFPA’s representatives the country needs to establish explicitly developed national policy for population. “Efforts are made in each sector, however, there is a lack of consolidation, and we expect to enlist the support from the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic in this issue”, - has been commented by one of the UNFPA’s delegate.
Nur uluu Dosbol has supported the issues mentioned by the UNFPA’s representative, and he suggested drafting an action plan jointly.
“We need to use the potential of your Fund. Each ministry has its action plan related to population issues, and they do work, however, there is no clear coordination. The state is keen and has a political will, and we could implement the forethoughts”, stressed Nur uluu Dosbol.
The UNFPA’s representatives have expressed their hope to have collaboration with the new State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan long and fruitful.
Deputy of Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic Askarbek Shadiev, Chairman of the Parliament national committee for population and development has also participated in the meeting.
