Y-PEER Training of Trainers

The United Nations Population Fund in Kyrgyzstan and the Y-Peer network organized a Training of trainers on the 11 to 16th of August 2008 in the Issyk-Kul oblast, Kyrgyzstan. 30 young leaders from various non governmental organizations participated in the event. The participants represented a range of social groups, such as young people working on the bazaars, students from schools and universities and LGBT.
Y-PEER Training of Trainers

Young people were trained by well known professionals from non governmental organizations “Reproductive health alliance” and “Association of centers of civil society support” Galina Chirkina, Svetlana Baulina and Saltanat Salieva.

Trainers and participants discussed the main issues and techniques of training, some of which were:

- motivation
- open and closed questions;
- facilitation and co facilitation;
- development of targets and aims of the training;
- communications and skills if public performance;
- feedback;

The next step of the training was using the attained knowledge in practice, where the participants had to try and organize, conduct and evaluate their own sessions. After each performance of the participants the trainers carried out sessions of feedback. During these sessions trainers offered some recommendations in improving the training skills of the participants.

At the end of the training participants received some home assignments and certificates of completion.

Furthermore, the participants of this training will conduct their own trainings for their groups during September and October and will present their reports on these events. After this, those who completed the assignment will pass on to the specialized in depth training, which will take place in November 2008 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
