Today, March 7th, the Head of the Country Office of the UNFPA in Kyrgyzstan, B. Kaynazarov, together with the Deputy Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, A. E. Shambetova, handed over personal computers and scanning printers to pilot maternity hospitals and the Universal Medical Insurance Fund (FOMS) as part of the UNFPA and Indian Partnership Fund project "Reducing Preventable Maternal Morbidity through Access to Quality Medical Services using the Obstetric Monitoring and Teleconsultation System in Maternity Homes."
The project, approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of India, will be implemented within the framework of unique South-South cooperation and a trilateral partnership.
The activities aim to reduce preventable maternal morbidity by providing quality reproductive and maternal health services in five maternity homes through teleconsultations. Subsequently, a web platform for obstetric monitoring and response will be created for the analysis and implementation of measures in accordance with the recommendations of reviews of severe life-threatening maternal complications.
Medical service providers at the regional level will integrate telecommunication networks into their routine work to reduce visits for supportive observation at the tertiary level. This will also reduce costs in the long term and help achieve better long-term results.
UNFPA expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Indian Partnership Fund for their support and collaboration in implementing this crucial initiative. This project is a significant step forward in achieving UNFPA's goals - making every pregnancy wanted and every childbirth safe.
