On March 1, a seminar "Population Census: What the Numbers Say" dedicated to raising awareness of media representatives about the population and housing census of the Kyrgyz Republic was held in Bishkek. 

Journalists, media experts, and employees of the Bishkek mayor’s office participated in the interactive seminar.

Zainidin Jumaliev, Deputy Chairman of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, spoke about the importance of the census for the economy and social policy of the state.

Baktybek Kainazarov, UNFPA Programme Analyst, noted the importance of the media to fully and competently support an important state event.

Rimma Chynybaeva, head of the Statistical Census and Geographic Information Systems Department of the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan, spoke about the mechanisms of the census and answered questions from the participants.

Chinara Turdubaeva, head of the department of summary works and dissemination of statistical information of the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan, and Cholpon Uzakbaeva, data trainer, shared information on modern methods that are used to process statistical information and how to work with data correctly.

The Population and Housing Census will take place in Kyrgyzstan from March 25 to April 3, 2022.

The event is organized under the project "KYRGYZSTAT: Strengthening the national statistical system of the Kyrgyz Republic for the production, analysis, and dissemination of population statistics" implemented with the technical support of UNFPA in the Kyrgyz Republic and funded by the Russian Federation.
