“This year, Kyrgyzstan will take part in the preparation of a Global Report on the State of Midwifery in the World”, UNFPA Assistant Representative, Meder Omurzakov said.
This process, he underlined, is important and meaningful to accelerate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and especially MDGs # 4 and #5 (reducing child and maternal mortality).
UNFPA, in collaboration with more than 30 international organizations, including the UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) initiated the preparation of a report on the state of midwifery in the world.
Global report will include a detailed analysis of obstetric care in the world including an analysis of current and future challenges, problems of education of midwives, regulations, working conditions of midwives in 75 countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic.
