American University in Central Asia (AUCA) and the United Nations Population Fund in the Kyrgyz Republic (UNFPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The purpose of this MoU is to provide a framework for cooperation and to facilitate collaboration between AUCA and UNFPA in areas of mutual interest related to reproductive health promotion, such as family planning, ending gender-based violence, and activities related to demographic resilience.
Students from AUCA will have the chance to take part in activities hosted by UNFPA and AUCA as a result of the MoU. They will also have the opportunity to attend training sessions and seminars led by relevant staff members and experts, which will promote innovative approaches and creative solutions for empowering young people, increasing their involvement in developing youth-friendly services, family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and rights, and ending gender-based violence.
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Its mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA is formally named the United Nations Population Fund. The organization was created in 1969, the same year the United Nations General Assembly declared that “parents have the exclusive right to determine freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children.” UNFPA calls for the realization of reproductive rights for all and supports access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services – including voluntary family planning, maternal health care, and comprehensive sexuality education.
